Our Wedding Video

During the Christmas holiday in 2014, my family all met up in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to celebrate Christmas in the mountains. During our visit, my uncle and aunt brought their wedding video to share. Our wedding was 5 months away and the thought of having someone video our wedding day had never crossed my mind.

However, after watching the video of their special day, I knew we had to find a videographer. My sweet friend recommended Milestone Pictures and they were THE BEST! I am so grateful that they spent their whole day..literally 12+ hours...filming all of the special parts of our day. I will cherish this forever. Enjoy! <3

Our Riverside Wedding-The Details

As our 1 year wedding anniversary draws near, I thought it would be fun to feature some of our favorite moments from our wedding day on the blog over the next few weeks.

When the wedding planning process began, I was terrified because I had no idea what direction I wanted our wedding to go in. I had never dreamed of my ideal wedding day and really just wanted to marry the man of my dreams and could care less how that happened. The idea of elopement even got tossed around few times but was quickly dismissed when we realized how much our family would miss out on the special day if we didn't have an actual wedding.

In the end, we decided to create a low-key, fun and relaxing wedding day where friends and family could sit back, laugh, and have fun. We are so pleased with how everything came together! To save you from extreme photo overload, I am going to split some of our favorite photos into three posts.

Today's post is all about the wedding details. We kept it simple. We had three "detail" things that we REALLY wanted from our wedding day. 1) An outdoor venue near the water   2) amazing food   3) beautiful photos to help the memory of our day last forever.

The Venue:

We got married at Nolichucky Vineyard in Russellville, Tennessee. The staff was great to work with and the weather was gorgeous! I am pretty sure I wore David out a week before the wedding. I was SO worried about rain that I checked the weather forecast every 5 minutes. :)

The Flowers:

My sister-in-law did all of the flower arrangements on her own. She has a talent for it and did an incredible job of taking my Pinterest dreams and making them turn into reality!

Flowers used:
Bells of Ireland
Ivory Hydrangeas
Baby's Breath
Hypericum Berries
Slive Dollar Eucalyptus
Lisianthus
Anemones

The Dress:

The Rings:

The Decor

Our Guest Book was another Etsy find! I cannot wait to use the signed wood pallet as decor piece in our new home!

I made the table signs, seating cards, and yard signs with leftover wood.

The Cake:

Our cake topper was from Etsy, too.

Seriously though. Our wedding day came together beautifully. It was the most magical day of my life, and I am so grateful for everyone who helped make it special.

I am going to write a whole post bragging about our incredible photographer, Brittany Conner, and her BEAUTIFUL photos next. In the meantime, check out her portfolio here. Photo credit for all photos in this post go to her and she totally deserves it! <3

A Rocky Top Hubby

Hello blogging world! I feel the need to introduce myself as I joke that I am A Rocky Top Husband! There is a lot of truth in that as my wife and I know one way of doing things....all in and thus, if she is all in to blogging then I am too! While I am new to the blogging world, I have been an avid forum user/moderator for a very long time. I have loved watching my wife do all her social media "stuff" and when she suggested doing a joint blog to document our life; I was excited.

When Sarah and I got married last May, we didn't think about our life together as a "new chapter". Married life is a whole new book for the both of us. A different chapter would mean there is just one main person. When we said "I do", we began a new life together!  So far, we can sort our life into two big sections. The first was "2015-The Year of Getting Married". Now, we keep referring 2016 as "The Year of the House".

We are about to tackle the huge project of building a house together, within our first year of marriage. We know that it is going to be a big project, and we are excited to share it here. Today, we toured our lot, marked the area that we are hoping the house will be able to go, flagged what trees we want to keep, and stared at our beautiful new view.

First things first

When you are not building in the city you need to get a perk test done.  This involves getting someone out to the lot to do soil samples, map the the land, and then dig some holes.  The perk tester will then dig some holes and put water in them, he will measure how long it takes the water to drain in those holes and give you a rate.  This will determine the size of the septic tank and really determine how many bedrooms and where the house is located.  This sounds like a simple task but just as all tasks you get a list and call up the people and half do not call you back and half are booked up for months.  Along with everything this is another cost that is before the building loan and a cost out of pocket.

While all this is gibberish, this is what you get to see when you figure out if your spot of land can handle the house you want to build.  This basically means we can build the house we want but we have to put it in a very specific spot on the land.  I am sure this will be more of an issue in the future but for right now you work with what you have.
